ABOUT ME

I'm a 17 year old film student from Brighton with a devotion for filmmaking.

Editing has always been something I've particularly enjoyed and strived to perfect my skills in, though I also love filming things around me that I find interesting. I first became interested in filmmaking when I was 9 as I'd attended media student oscar nights at the school where my mum worked. I began making animations with Paint (using Movie Maker to edit) until I received a flipvideo camera at the age of 11, which was when I started filming.

Stylistically I perceive each video I make to have some kind of theme, either that I'd planned before filming or that just came about due to my mood or the clips I'd filmed around that time. I'm inspired by filmmakers like Michel Gondry, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Pedro Almodovar, each of whom have a vivid imagination and the style in which their films are edited is very abstract.

Projects that I've previously taken part in include volunteering as a runner for the independent film 'The Holly Kane Experiment' by Substantial films, filming a live debate at Brighton Dome called 'How We See Ourselves' and filming & editing a montage video for a club called 'River Drama'. Alongside these I have created copious amounts of videos for my own pleasure, which I have uploaded both on my Vimeo and YouTube account.

Although I'm interested in the process of feature length films, I feel my skills lie mostly in editing abstract short films. I would love to make music videos like those made by/for artists such as Grimes, Bat For Lashes and M.I.A.
